I can’t imagine my life without my hobbies. Having a hobby is really an important thing, because it makes you relax, you get to know something new, and finally you are in peace with yourself and the whole world, and it seems more and more important in our constantly changing fussy world.
As for my hobbies, I would put reading in the first place, because it’s the major source of information for me. I don’t like fantasy, which is so popular today, I prefer serious books. My favourite writers are S. Maugham, A. Christie. I like Russian writers — Dostoevski and Tolstoy. I can’t say that I have a lot of time for reading, but when I have some free time, I give it to reading. I always have my portable electronic book reader in my bag.
Woodcarving is my second hobby — it is the best way to create. It is even more interesting than painting. Carving wood, you create a kind of relief picture — it is similar to sculpture. Wood is a very pleasant material to work with. Unfortunately, I don’t have much time for it and do it only in summer during my holidays.
And the last hobby I would like to tell you about is painting. I have never attended any art school, but I am so deeply interested in this activity, that I have a couple of friends who are artists. I believe that it’s possible to learn a lot from them. Sometimes I go to the country far away from civilization and draw and paint nature. I use these sketches later when I paint in watercolours. Oil painting will be my next stage, and hopefully I’ll try it next year. My parents and friends say, I’m making good progress. I even take part in different competitions and have already won a couple of prizes.
I will probably turn this hobby into my future profession and become a designer or an artist.
My hobbies are really my treasure, and I am glad to share it with everyone, who is interested in the same things with me.
